Below is a letter sent from AIPAC to President Bush and Secretary Powell.

To President Bush and Secretary Powell:
On behalf of the pro-Israel community, we want to express our deepest appreciation for your unshakable resolve in opposing the effort to resurrect the previously discredit condemnation of Zionism as Racism which has taken place as part of the UN World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (UNWCAR).
By viciously attacking Israel at a time when extremist organizations and countries are advocating Israelšs destruction, the UNWCAR has engaged in an Orwellian display of the very intolerance it was intended to combat.
Your principled efforts to remove anti-Israel language from the UN declaration and your decision to withdraw from the UNWCAR demonstrate historic leadership and commitment to opposing intolerance and discrimination.
