Since I was a child, I heard that we must be vigilant against anti-semitism in the United States, because what happened in Germany could happen here. Who would have thought that our vigilance against anti-semitism would also need to be focused on Israel, where it seems that Jewish people once again are blind to the hatred that is openly being preached and acted on against us. That there are Jews/Israelis who actually believe that it is the "settlers" or the "religious fanatics in Jerusalem" who are preventing us from having peace with our Arab neighbors boggles my mind and reminds me of Western European Jews who thought that it was only the peasant, Eastern European Jews who the Nazis really wanted to kill -- not assimilated, intellectual, German Jews who were loyal German citizens. Have we really forgotten so soon?

What can one say with a lump in their throat, tears in their eyes, and pain in the heart? Living in the Old City, the events of that Erev Rosh HaShana are not far enough past to calmly view these pictures. I am an Egyptian studying in the U.S., and I hope I get you to understand that not all the arabs are vehemently supporting PLO and against Israel, and the reality is even far worse than you can imagine about the reasons and the techniques behind all this disturbance, suffice to say that the average egyptian as well as arab knows that the peace will never be reached for a very simple reason; in corrupt regimes- which pretty much describe all the arab regimes- all benefit from the instability of the region financially and otherwise, the "leaders" improve their images and capitalize on the concept of being the ones who speak for Jerusalem and its liberation, that is far less dangerous than dealing with democracy , human rights, and corruption in their regimes. Imagine if the peace reigns and every thing works just fine , will egypt or PLO or whoever get that easy money in form of U.S.AIDS???!! There are kids killed every day in Egypt and the other arab countries in the police stations and prisons, in the last election in Egypt many kids were killed by the police bullets which were shot indiscriminately. In his book published in France a former military officer in the Algerian army describes the horrible facts about how the military officers would disguise in islamists uniforms and kill innocent people to get against the islamic groups in Algeria. The media in Egypt described how the mob in Egypt demonstrated against Israel and U.S.A. It starts with students(from national democratic part) and security forces dispersed among students, and started the instigation for the regime to show what happens if they are gone "chaos off course" and then they convince other students to join and they will be rewarded handsomely . unfortunately the islamists preached in the mosques that it is Muslims' duty to rebel against the the world Zionism and U.S., but as for me and many otherwhom I trust their judgment it more important to have dignity in our own lands , we do not law anyone can be taken to prison without any trials, If you speak up you are history, why do not they say the same about the corruption of the military and the state security forces, why did not they mourn and condemned the killing of innocent kids and people in the egyptian prisons at the hands of the security force and the military all over the arab world. I hope you understand many of us feel and think the same but we can not say much. This is why you do not know that we even exist. There are educated, intelligent people in Egypt who really admire Israel's democracy and the value the state puts on the individual's life. something I wonder if will ever happens in the arab countries!!!!!
